Thanks for Giving - The Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation

Formed in 2016, following years of community efforts to foster the preservation, beautification, improvement, maintenance, and enjoyment of Four Mile Run Park, the Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation already has been awarded grants that created a series of three events this Fall, engaging volunteers in conservation activities in Four Mile Run Park. Now, as they embark on a fundraising effort to help abate litter in our parks and streams, the Conservatory Foundation sends out this Thanksgiving greeting.

Dear Friends,

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the generosity of volunteers, supporters, and donors like you, and for the positive impact you have had at Four Mile Run.

Read more of our Annual Report
You’ll see from last year’s annual report that your involvement enables valuable conservation work. Just in the six months since then, your support has made possible:
  • Removal of more than 1,500 pounds of litter, mostly lightweight plastic and styrofoam
  • Engaging at least 400 people at 28 public and volunteer events
  • Analysis of microplastic pollution by a summer student intern
  • Ongoing documentation of wildlife, including eight species of dragonflies
  • Planning for future park improvements
Whether you paddled out to collect litter from the stream, walked the park trails counting birds or bats, or donated money to provide equipment for volunteer work, you have made a difference at Four Mile Run.

You can build on this momentum today:
Thank you for driving the success of the Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation. I wish you a happy Thanksgiving, and look forward to seeing you out at Four Mile Run!

Kurt Moser, President

Thanksgiving travelers might be thankful not to have to go
the distance our local ospreys migrate for winter,
flying as far away as southern South America, to return in April.

The Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and volunteer organization formed in 2016 following years of community efforts to foster the preservation, beautification, improvement, maintenance, and enjoyment of Four Mile Run Park.
