Arlington's Potomac Yard Plans

Folks have been talking about the construction we’re seeing at South Glebe & Route 1. This is on Arlington’s ‘South Tract’ of Potomac Yard. Arlington’s Potomac Yard ‘North Tract’ up near the 14th St. Bridge is slotted for park and recreation. As last week’s article in the Arlington Connection explains, “The land was acquired by Arlington County in the early 1990s when it exchanged building rights on the South Tract — a strip of land near Crystal City— for ownership of it in a deal with a group of developers.”

From up the Avenue to 10th & E

The Waffle Shop's long lost DC cousin. Three doors down from the house where Lincoln died. This location now offers a chinese menu, but alot of the original art deco furnishings remain intact. Maybe there's a Kung Pao version of chicken and waffles. And they've never lost an 'eff.' Posted by Hello

Now you see it...now you see it a little less.

You can't blame 'em for trying...but I'm afraid I can still see the ghost of this MS-13 gang tag. While technically in Northridge, given that this is the old railroad support, I can't quite call it 'the other side of the tracks.' I wonder if this means we should think up more ways to decorate graffiti, rather than try to cover it up....perhaps covering it in Gold Lamé or silver sequins. Or maybe we could look for arts funding for the subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal. Posted by Hello

Isn't the sidewalk just another passing lane?

A recent change to the Mount Vernon Avenue Streetscape. Downed trees and fallen lampposts are tied at one to one, but who's keeping score? Posted by Hello
