Harvest Festival This Sunday, Nov. 4th!

This Sunday, 4MRMarket will host their annual Harvest Festival.

There will be activities for the kids (Hansel and Gretel performance by Gale Nemec @ 10:30 AM, lots of sidewalk chalk, lots of open space for bike riding), music for parents and everyone else (Back Alley Blues Boys performance @ 11 AM), and of course, all the great produce, cheese, meats, pickled products, teas, etc. that you've come to expect from 4MRMarket.

In other news, they will extend one more week due to popular demand.  So Sunday, November 4th will be the 2nd to last market.  There will be one more market on November 11th, as well.  Please help support all the great vendors for the last 2 weeks of the market.

4MRMarket Report: "Where's the Beef?" Edition

The beef is back. The Stiflers will be at 4MRMarket again this Sunday with their fabulous meat.

And Fall is here and the Four Mile Run Farmers & Artisans Market is in the homestretch. We have a great year of fantastic products and now we head into another season with more to offer.

Fabulous Fall Savory Slow Cooker Meat Loaf
with What's For Dinner Now
With temperatures beginning to drop, it's a sure sign that fall is here.  And with the fall weather, be on the lookout for all of your fall favorites:  squash, beets, cabbage, hearty greens, and, of course, pumpkins! So climb out of bed and warm up with thoughts of roasted butternut squash or beets, braised greens, or whatever your fall favorite might be. If you haven't considered the great options, be sure to fall for fall produce!

And there'll be music!

Matt Tarka will be performing on the 4MR Stage!
Matt is a singer/songwriter whose introspective lyrics and sharp rhythms are designed for your back porch or a ride into town. Tarka’s songs can jolt you like a conversation with an old friend, picking up right where you left off on the trail.

4MRMarket Report: "Rainbow Lady and Princess Fiddlesticks" Edition

Kate Moran Band
11am - noon

This week we have an interactive, kid-friendly show by the Kate Moran Band from 11am-noon plus a second collection for St. Rita's Annual Clothing Drive.  See below for more details on both.

We often try to come up with some sort of amusing title for the 4MRMarket Report, but when there is a performance entitled "Rainbow Lady and Princess Fiddlesticks," how does one improve upon that? Here's a little info on this fun-packed show from the Del Ray Music Festival:
"Get ready for all the excitement and fun that you get at a Kate Moran Band show, shrunk down to size for your little dudes! The Rainbow Lady (Kate Moran) and Princess Fiddlesticks (Lynn Rovelli) will entertain you with a combination of classic and original children’s tunes. ”Lady” and “Princess” will keep you bopping in your socks until you just can’t rock anymore! Always on hand, inside the box of fun, tambourines, shakers and more for your little one to join in the fun, and if they are feeling like completing their rock star appearance, how about a nice little temporary Rainbow tattoo, from non other than Peppermint Patty!!

4MRMarket Report: "Clothing Drive with a Sountrack" Edition

Cleaning out your closets? 4MRMarket can help. We're hosting St. Rita's Annual Clothing Drive this Sunday! St. Rita Church is conducting its annual clothing drive and will be collecting gently worn, clean cold weather clothing and rain gear of all sizes this week.

Look for the collection box at the 4MRMarket Tent. The clothing will be distributed on Saturday, October 13th from the St. Rita School Hall to our neighbors in Arlandria.

At the same time, you can be entertained with a free show from Shane Hanley.  That's right, for the 6th weekend in a row, and 7 of the last 8 weeks, 4MRMarket brings you a live show to compliment your day of shopping, donating, and generally having a good time.

Shane has performed in a number of bands in Hawaii and DC area. He is now dedicated to performing on his own for the first time in the nation’s capital. After seven years of playing for friends at parties and performing at open mics in both DC and Hawaii, Shane is recording a new demo and working harder than ever. Looking forward, Shane has stepped away from his much louder, antagonistic rock-influenced sounds of Butters and the Three Man Riot and his short lived family project, Comatose Calling. Instead, he melds his new-found love of Hawaii’s signature instrument with a soulful and relaxed take on living in the city."
